Beautiful Longwood Home –

Current Hardie Board Exterior Painting Project

The Process

There’s something about Longwood that always stands out. The homes feel tucked into nature a little more, the trees sit closer, and the sunlight hits differently through the afternoon. This one was no different.

When we first pulled up to this home, what stood out right away wasn’t the size or the layout — it was the color. A soft yellow that had clearly seen a few Florida summers. Fading in some areas, holding on in others, and showing the usual wear you see on Hardie board when it’s been exposed to heat, humidity, and constant sun.

This is where most exterior paint jobs begin in Central Florida.

Not with color — but with condition.

What We Noticed Right Away

The siding itself was in good shape overall, which is always a great starting point. Hardie board holds up well in Florida, but the paint on top of it is what takes the hit over time.

Around the windows and trim, you could see areas where the previous coating was starting to break down. The front entry had buildup, and the screened-in patio area showed typical wear from moisture and shade differences.

And then there’s something you don’t always see in photos — the way landscaping affects paint.

This home had beautiful greenery, but that also means more moisture, more shade in certain areas, and more organic buildup on the surface. All things that have to be handled correctly before any paint goes on.

The Real Work Starts Before the Paint

A lot of people think painting starts with picking a color.

It doesn’t.

It starts with prep.

For this Longwood exterior painting project, that meant:

  • Full exterior cleaning to remove dirt, mildew, and buildup

  • Careful attention around landscaping to protect the property

  • Surface inspection across all Hardie board siding

  • Prepping trim, soffits, and fascia for a clean finish

  • Masking windows, doors, and surrounding areas

If the prep isn’t right, nothing else matters. Especially in Florida.

Why Hardie Board Homes Need the Right Approach

Hardie board is one of the best materials you can have on a home here in Seminole County, but it still needs the right system applied to it.

With the amount of sun exposure this home gets, combined with humidity and rain cycles, using the right exterior coatings is what makes the difference between something that looks good for a year… and something that holds up.

This project is being approached with long-term durability in mind, not just appearance.

Working Around Real Life

One thing about projects like this — they’re not happening in a vacuum.

This is someone’s home.

You can see it in the details. The front entry. The backyard setup. The screened patio where time is spent. Every part of the house has a purpose, and that matters when we’re working around it.

We take extra care to keep things clean, organized, and respectful while the work is being done. That’s something people don’t always talk about, but it’s just as important as the final result.

What’s Coming Next

Right now, this project is in the prep stage — which is exactly where it should be.

From here, we move into:

The goal is simple: make this home look refreshed, protected, and built to handle Florida weather for years to come.

Longwood Homes Deserve the Right Finish

Homes in Longwood aren’t just about appearance. They’re surrounded by greenery, exposed to shifting light throughout the day, and deal with constant weather changes.

That means the paint has to do more than look good.

It has to last.

That’s what this project is about.
